CBeebies

((Click on image for larger view))

The CBeebies website is clearly, from first glance, different to that of Disney Channel. Instantly, you can see that it is far more colourful. This large use of colour is to attract younger audiences because younger children will associate colours with the different sections. Each part is coloured differently, we can see that the 'Make & Colour' section is blue, 'Play a Game' is in red and 'Watch and Listen' is in Pink. These will instantly become a way in which the children will find the various different pages, as you can see the navigation at the top has little images which are holding items that are relevant to what they are, such as song time has a musical note and story time has a book, all having the colour relating to that from the main sections on the page, for instance the games console on 'Play' is red and the 'Watch & Listen' has pink headphones.

Also, when you mouse over the top navigation links it voices what each is, this way, not only does the colour co-ordination and imagery help but now there is also a man reading each link so that the children can hear it too. These little images are also animated when you hover over them, adding to the fun and interest of the pictures, attracting children's attention even more.

The main focus of this homepage is the media box which contains different highlights of the website. This includes direct links to a game, story and educational video for children. This, again is all helping towards the ease of access for little ones. The video can be played instantly from the homepage, therefore you don't have to be directed elsewhere unless you want to view more information on it.
